Reaching a Goal

Okay, this evening I finally arrived at a goal that I have been working very hard at for what seems like forever. After 82 weeks, I am finally a Lifetime member of WeightWatchers (WW)!!! For those of you who are unfamiliar with WW, here's a quick explanation of that accomplishment. Basically, you set a goal weight (within your allowable range) once you lose your first 10%. Then, once you reach your goal weight you then have to maintain within 2 pounds for 6 weeks. If at the end of that 6 weeks you are still within the 2 pound allowance you become Lifetime and don't have to pay dues unless you go over that 2 pounds. Now I only have to weighin once a month, but I plan on continuing to attend the meetings every week. It really is like a second family there. I've met some truly wonderful people and quite a few characters as well. Even though I hate to show the one picture, I really feel it's necessary to show that hard work can pay off. So here goes:

BEFORE - taken 6/28/2003 at Daytona International Speedway (thanks Nikki)
AFTER - taken 2/17/2008 at Daytona International Speedway (thanks Teresa)
Below is a picture of me and my WW leader, Theresa, who was a big part of my success. I started attending Theresa's meeting in Garner on August 10, 2006 with Fran and Cinnamon (thanks for convincing me to give WW a shot). She does a great job of keeping people motivated on what can be a long roller coaster ride. But it's a ride well worth it!!! The feeling I had tonight being handed my Lifetime booklet and 'key' was a bigger rush than any roller coaster could provide (it came in right behind NASCAR). In addition to losing 44.8 pounds, I gained so much self-confidence and more importantly I regained respect for myself.
Now, what's next???
